Other tips:
Complete an Individual Assistance Form and turn into the Crary Hose FD — this form can be updated as needed (most local fire depts have these forms)
Keep an inventory of damage, preferably saved in a waterproof safe or lock box — update list when necessary; some damages may not be found for many days, weeks, or even years. Save photos of damage — preferably before and after pictures. Keep all receipts of items purchased (materials, supplies, replacement of damaged items, repair costs, etc.) and number of people who helped you during the flood and clean-up.
Meet with a PEMA rep to confirm that an assessment was completed for your home or business
Contact your insurance company — even if your claim is denied, PEMA wants to know (many of us do not have flood insurance to cover damages)
